For the extraction of the aluminum oxide (Al2O3), also called alumina, contained in bauxite, we use the Bayer process, an industrial process suited to the production of alumina. This technique facilitates the extraction of aluminum oxide by using high pressure and temperature to dissolve the gibbsite/boehmite contained in the bauxite. The process entails 5 steps and results in a white power known as alumina.
